Container Discharged: Is It Ready for Pickup?
Discharged means an unloading event has been reported. Before arranging collection, confirm that it is the right destination and that the applicable release and terminal requirements are met.
- Check the event location
- Separate estimates from actual events
- Confirm requirements before acting
Make sure the event belongs to your container
Check the container reference, event location and whether the discharge is actual or estimated. A vessel arrival is a different event. At a transshipment port, unloading may be followed by loading onto another ship.
Separate movement from permission
Tracking describes reported movement. Collection also depends on requirements outside that event, such as carrier release, customs clearance and terminal availability. Check the applicable requirements with the carrier, terminal or appointed agent; do not infer them from a single tracking label.
Ask a precise collection question
Ask whether this container can be collected from this terminal, under the current release status and appointment rules. Include the container number and intended collection date. This is more useful than asking only whether the ship has arrived.
Check the deadline separately
Review the relevant free-time or last-free-day information, including its source and charge type. A confirmed discharge date does not by itself establish an authoritative free-time expiry. Resolve conflicting dates before committing transport or relying on a charge estimate.
What to check next
- Confirm actual discharge: Check the container, destination and event type.
- Verify collection conditions: Confirm release, customs and terminal requirements with the responsible parties.
- Coordinate the visit: Confirm appointment details and applicable deadlines before dispatch.
Does CargoFlowPlus authorize container release?
No. Tracking and planning information does not replace carrier, customs or terminal confirmation.
What if tracking shows discharge but collection is blocked?
Ask the responsible carrier, terminal or agent which requirement remains outstanding. Keep that answer separate from the reported discharge event.
